A terrific western horsemanship guru, Tom Curtin, will be our trainer for the DVD. Tom Curtin grew up in Montana and has had a long career working with such famous ranches as King Ranch, The Four Sixes, Johnson Ranch and 7D Ranch. He counts such horsemanship legends as Buster Welch and Ray and Carolyn Hunt as his mentors.
Several ex-racehorses will be featured in the DVD – including Pogomeister, Heza Peacemaker, Wooden Phone and Haughty Marietta. We plan to show how different types of ex-racers adapt to being restarted under saddle (from 3-year-old washout to a 12-year-old racing "warrior" to a teenage racing broodmare). The DVD will also describe the racetrack environment and how to properly "let down" horses coming directly off the track.
Pogomeister and Heza Peacemaker are up for adoption and will be available after the DVD is filmed. Their adoption fees will include the training sessions with Tom Curtin – and the glamour of adopting a horse with a film credit to his name!

The DVD will be filmed and edited by Beef and Pie, a prestigious Austin production company and friend of LOPE. They are generously providing their services at discounted rates.
