Great news, horse friends! LOPE's annual December fundraiser show is going virtual this year!
EHV-1 threw Central Texas (and so many horse people across the country) a curveball this fall, and we're counting our blessings that our LOPE horses stayed safe. Instead of canceling, Scissortail Hill Equestrian came up with an even better solution: a virtual show that anyone, anywhere, can enjoy safely from home.
We love the spirit of this approach. It's a chance for horse people to do something playful (but safe) with their horses right in their own space — and support the LOPE herd at the same time.
Show Details
Paulina at Scissortail Hill Equestrian designed a great mix of classes:
- Dressage tests (classical & western)
- Obstacle classes (in-hand & mounted)
- Horsemanship classes (in-hand & mounted)
- Hunter classes (over fences & flat)
Plus beautiful ribbons, awards, and terrific judges!
Entry Deadline: December 31 at 8 PM
Video Submission Deadline: January 17 at 8 PM
Perfect for First-Timers & Young Horses
The Obstacle classes are especially nice for young horses, horses coming out of rehab, or anyone who's never competed before. They're super simple and fun — with an emphasis on showing good manners. If you've been curious about trying a show but felt intimidated, these classes are a great place to start!

Supporting the LOPE Herd
Every year, this show helps keep our warhorses well-fed through winter. Our senior ex-racehorses — Cozy, Gigi, Ben, Oro, and our newest teacher Jack — take their hay VERY seriously. They approach winter snacks with the same enthusiasm some people bring to holiday cookies. 😊
